Symposium 2023

“Mending Minds: Addressing Mental Illness in

Families and Communities of Color”

The Symposium tackles the over-looked silent killer, mental illness. With its devastating tentacles affecting multiple generations of families of color, mental illness has been exacerbated by the pandemic. Meanwhile, families struggle to combat anxiety and stress caused by risk factors that include racial injustice, substance abuse, misuse of social media and other adverse experiences. The Symposium seeks to raise awareness about the severity of the crisis and the need for prevention in underserved communities.
